Why oasis?

Because it is a place that welcomes, protects and restores.

In the years when I was crossing the Sahara desert following the Paris Dakar Race, seeing palm trees in the distance and a green dot in the sand meant having reached an oasis; a safe place to quench one’s thirst, refresh and restore energy.

The injured person, the athlete who has suffered a trauma they all need a place where they feel safe, protected and cared for in order to be able to recover physically before leaving and facing the challenges of life: a “medical oasi”, a place that welcomes, protects, takes care of the body and restores the spirit.

Thus was born my O.A.S.I.

Orthopedic Arthroscopic Surgery means less and less invasive surgery more and more bio orthopedics that do not violate tissue, International refers to the globalization of culture, of the enthusiasm that infects those who want to learn, grow and then pass on to others.

The technology in the more developed countries favours bio-clinical research which flourishes in the most renowned centers but in order for the research to continue, it must expand and enlarge medical science and the creation of well-being in the less fortunate countries.

Many years ago I offered my contribution by going to many developing countries and participated as a volunteer doctor with humanitarian organizations; I felt, however, that I was a drop in the ocean, I spoke to the local doctors in an unknown language of things that they couldn’t even imagine.

It was here in Italy that I had to create a kind of school, pass on the concepts, introduce the method and use of the new minimally invasive techniques and regenerative medicine learned during my studies, “give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime”

Thus O.A.S.I. and then the OASI Bioresearch Foundation, a non-profit organization with the mission to spread bio-orthopedics globally.
